Role Overview:
A Container Trader Sales Team member at an NVOCC (Non-Vessel-Operating Common Carrier) is responsible for sourcing and selling container shipping space on various shipping lines. They act as intermediaries between shipping lines and cargo owners, negotiating rates, terms, and conditions to secure profitable deals.

Key Responsibilities:
• Market Research: Conduct in-depth research on global shipping markets, identifying trends, opportunities, and challenges.
• Customer Acquisition: Develop and implement sales strategies to attract and retain new customers, including importers, exporters, and freight forwarders.
• Rate Negotiation: Negotiate freight rates with shipping lines, ensuring competitive pricing while maximizing profitability for the NVOCC.
• Sales Pitching: Develop persuasive sales presentations to showcase the NVOCC’s services, benefits, and competitive advantages.
• Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, providing excellent customer service and addressing their needs promptly.
• Contract Management: Draft and manage contracts with customers and shipping lines, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
• Sales Forecasting: Prepare accurate sales forecasts and track performance against targets.
• Market Analysis: Analyze market data to identify potential sales opportunities and optimize pricing strategies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Strong understanding of the international shipping industry, including container shipping, freight forwarding, and logistics.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proven track record in sales, preferably in the shipping or logistics industry at least 5 yrs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in using sales and CRM software.
Additional Skills (Preferred):
• Knowledge of import/export procedures and documentation.
• Experience with customs regulations and trade compliance.
• Proficiency in multiple languages.
